Unknown Ritual is an exhibition that transports the viewer to the sacred realm of contemplation. Sounds of hammers and heavy breath create a musical effect that questions the role in a prayer and are proof of the happening of a ritual for the sake of itself. An unknown ritual that never starts and never ends but simply exists and is constantly in transformation. Universal concepts of the sacred clash and embrace Andrea Coppola’s own experience as an artist creating a fascinating personal syncretism of traditions. Fire, Wood, Water, Earth, beautiful Sicilian landscapes and towns surpass the medium of film to reveal their potential aura and express the mystical and magical sacred power of art. Between nature and culture, absence and presence, action and poetry, death and resurrection the ritual becomes a purifying therapy. Always escaping the boundaries of society Andrea refuges in an idyllic cove. No limits; life invades death and vice-versa.
